Self-produced queer rap artist from South Florida, Duke Stamina, is debuting his single and music video "Gay Pac" off his upcoming album "Super Horse Dads 2 TURBO: Tournament Edition [ost]”.
Taking from the trap, edm, hip-hop, punk, and comedy genres, Duke Stamina’s album is a distinct use of comedic satire and crass “aggressively gay” lyrical content over a diverse set of energetic, self-made beats—ranging from trap and edm to traditional hip-hop and lo-fi sounds.
“I wanted to create a representation for gay, alt, and queer folk out there who don’t feel like they fit into a stereotypical gay scene,” says Duke Stamina. “Those who’d rather catch a punk show or nerd out with friends rather than be stuck listening to top 40 trash that’s overplayed in most gay bars.”
Duke Stamina didn’t come out until he was 21, citing that a lot of it had to do with not being able to identify with the Will & Grace mold that gay men his age were squeezing themselves into. “I want to show folks an often unseen side of the gay experience—the angry middle finger of resistance to the norm,” he explains.
“The unwillingness to settle for the boring.”
